Goodness | I Swear, But It's Not What You Think

By the year 2050, there could be more plastic than fish in the world’s oceans. 91% of plastics are not recycled. 79% of all the plastic created is still in our environment .Every minute, one garbage truck of plastic enters our oceans. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH.

I have some friends who run an incredible non profit called Changing Tides Foundation dedicated to helping us alll wake up to this issue. They have created a really fun, and insightful way to help us all start making changes in our daily lives and reducing our plastic waste.

I’m guilty of using single use plastics. But today not only do I promise, but I swear, I swear to be more aware.

Good, Wise and Wonderful is participating in Changing Tides Foundation Plastic Swear Jar Challenge which starts on Earth Day, April 22nd. You should too!

Here are the rules:

A SWEAR = Each time you purchase or use an item of single-use plastic

1. Designate a container in your home or workplace as your #PLASTICSWEARJAR and decorate it so that it's obvious what it is for.

2. For each "swear", place $1 (or whatever feels fair) into the jar.

3. Keep track of all your “sweara=s” each day (on your phone, in IOU’S or a dollar in the jar)

Be honest. This won't work unless we all hold ourselves accountable!

Let Changing Tides Foundation know you're participating by sharing a photo or ‘I SWEAR’ video with your challenge on on Instagram and tag @CHANGINGTIDESFOUNDATION #PLASTICSWEARJAR #ISWEARTOBEAWARE for your chance to be featured and win a GOPRO HERO 6 & some awesome prizes.

At the end of the 7 days, you have the option to donate the funds to Changing Tides Foundation via their #PLASTICSWEARJAR fundraiser page, which will be used to benefit environmental initiatives!
